Padres’ Tatis (thigh) to IL: ‘Going to be some time’

MLB

The San Diego Padres placed Fernando Tatis Jr. on the 10-day IL with a femoral stress reaction in his right leg, the team announced on Monday.

The move is retroactive to Saturday.

Tatis had already been out of the Padres lineup over the weekend due to a bruised left triceps when he was hit by a pitch in the third inning of Friday night’s 9-5 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. He went down on one knee in pain and was checked by a trainer.

Tatis ran the bases and took his position in right field for the next two innings. When his turn in the batting order came up in the fifth, he was replaced by pinch-hitter Tyler Wade.
