The Minnesota Vikings and head coach Kevin O’Connell have agreed to a multiyear extension, the team announced Tuesday.
Terms were not disclosed.
The Vikings are also working on an extension for general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday.
O’Connell led the Vikings to a 14-3 record this season and is 34-17 in three seasons as the team’s coach. The Vikings have reached the postseason twice under O’Connell, losing in the wild-card round both times.
He is the first coach in Vikings history to post multiple 13-win seasons, and he became the fastest coach in franchise history to achieve 30 wins, doing so this season in his 46th game.
“It is an absolute honor to continue leading the Minnesota Vikings,” O’Connell said in a statement. “Holding this prestigious position is something I never take for granted, and I want to express my sincere gratitude to the Wilf family for their unwavering belief in what we are building together. … I’m thrilled for the years ahead and will continue to give you everything I have as we pursue a Super Bowl for the state of Minnesota.”
